GlobalSat will deliver three LoRa air sensor nodes in compliance with LoRaWAN standards

GlobalSat Worldcom Corp (GlobalSat), one of the leading LoRa Technology adaptors, will deliver its first air sensor nodes based on its LoRaWAN™ certified module LM-130. The first three sensor nodes are for CO, CO2, and PM2.5 air quality detection. Each sensor node will also come with a temperature and humidity sensor in the same chassis.

“We have cooperated with leading sensor design houses that are eager to adapt Semtech’s LoRa Technologies to their existing sensor devices,” said Alpha Tsai, EVP of GlobalSat for New Business. “The original sensor devices were designed for wired network or short range wireless network. We work together to migrate sensor data transmission to long wireless transmission by using our LoRa-based module, and our partners and customers are glad to see the full sensor capability by using LoRa.”

The model LS-111 is a CO2 sensor node that uses Gold-plated infrared (NDIR) wave-guide technology with Automatic Baseline Correction (ABC) and passive gas diffusion (no moving parts) for CO2 detection. The model LS-112 is a CO sensor node that uses an electrochemical sensor for CO detection. The model LS-113 is a PM2.5 sensor node that uses laser light scattering principle to detect dust particles. All sensor nodes have a build-in CMOS temperature and humidity sensor as well.

The sensors use LoRa® devices manufactured by Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq:SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, and are based on the LoRaWAN protocol to ensure interoperability with the gateways and networks needed for application deployment.

GlobalSat has worked with many Gateway and Network Server partners using LoRa Technology and are constantly doing interoperability tests with them in various countries,” said Tsai. “We have to ensure the best compatibility of these sensor nodes and are confident to introduce these sensor nodes to the worldwide LoRaWAN network. We plan to release additional sensor nodes in the near future.”
